Home for Easter (Part 2)

В търсене на вдъхновение за моите шевици посетих Регионалния исторически музей на София (преустроената Централна минерална баня). Първо бях приятно изненадана от съвременния вид на музея – добре подредени експозиции; аудиогидове, които работят; електронен билет, който автоматично отваря входа (като на метрото). Но когато намерих това, което търсех, а именно залата с “Паметта на Софийската шевица”, направо онемях. Спирам да говоря/пиша и показвам веднага…

While searching for inspiration for my embroidery work, I visited the Sofia History Museum (refurbished Sofia Mineral Baths). At first I was pleasantly surprised by the contemporary look of the venue – well arranged expositions; functioning audio guides; entry ticket that opens the door automatically (metro-like). But when I found what I had come for, the exhibition “Memories of Sofia embroideries”, I literally gasped. Enough said/written, see for yourselves…

Шевици, някои оригинали на които са преправени с ново предназначение: кърпи, покривки… Има и Самоковска дантела.

Embroideries, some of which have been later given a new function, such as table cloth, napkins… There is an nice example of lace from the Samokov region.
